Claude and Mary Swingle
purchased Westgate Motel and Trailer Park in 1971. Mary
owned an art supply business with shops located in The
Dalles, OR and Long Beach, WA. Her idea was to use the
Park as a venue for budding artists.
She offered art classes featuring leading local artists
teaching at the Park during the summer months with
students coming from all over the Northwest.
Through the years many upgrades were made to the Park.
Upon the deaths of Claude and Mary, their children and
spouses inherited the Park. Changes to the Park have
continued.
All cabins were recently updated. The Rec Center has new
cooking facilities, refrigerator, television, games, and
expanded Wi-Fi. It is intended to be a fun place to
accommodate family gatherings; some have been coming for
three generations. The Rec Center is an ideal place to
hold family reunions, or an informal place to get
together with friends staying at the Park. It has always
been a focal point of our guests.
The improvements made over almost 40 years have made the
Park a great place to stay and enjoy the best of the
Coast!
